Verginate village is a lovely group of few stone houses situated 400 mt high, just 5 minutes drive up the hill from Bellano, on the eastern coast of Lake Como after passing the village of Oro.
You have to travel far and wide to discover a setting that is so special, so unique. The drive up to Verginate village with a narrow and curvy road is unforgettable : you travel up into the hill and are instantly transported from the modern world back to another era into a oasis of calm , a place where time seems like it has stopped.
The village is on the route “ il Sentiero del Viandante”( Path of the Viandante) historical path of the region and placed on a candidate list with lake Como to enter as UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites .
The ancient mule track dating back to the Roman period is running along the eastern coast of Lake Como, along the first slopes of the mountains with rustic stone dwellings, the ruins of old mills, castles, numerous chapels and small mountain churches and terraces cultivated with vineyards and olive groves.
